The Omu of Ibusa, HRH Obi Josephine Isioma Nwannabuogwu, has urged expectant mothers in the community to embrace the responsibility of raising children who will grow into responsible, productive and valuable members of Ibusa society.


Obi Josephine made the call while serving as Special Guest of Honour at an antenatal outreach programme organised by the Anioma Watch Association, a registered socio-cultural organisation of Anioma people, in Ibusa.


Speaking to the expectant mothers, the Omu acknowledged the biological and physical challenges that accompany pregnancy, noting that such changes are normal aspects of the journey to motherhood. She, however, stressed the importance of proper upbringing, training and guidance in shaping children into responsible members of society.


She encouraged the women to see motherhood as a major responsibility and to prepare themselves for the task of nurturing children who would contribute positively to the development and progress of Ibusa.


Obi Josephine also commended the Anioma Watch Association for choosing Ibusa from among several communities for the outreach, describing the gesture as a meaningful intervention for expectant mothers in the community.


The Anioma Watch Association, on Monday, presented New Life Starter Packs to expectant women at the Ibusa Primary Health Care Centre, located opposite St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Isieke.


Receiving the guests and the items on behalf of the health facility, the Matron, Mrs. Obi Caroline Nneka, expressed appreciation to the Anioma Watch Association for the initiative.


Mrs. Nneka described the gesture as significant to both the hospital and the beneficiaries who chose the facility for their antenatal care. She urged the expectant mothers to take matters concerning their health seriously and make proper use of available maternal healthcare services.


The outreach underscored the importance of community support for expectant mothers and the need to promote maternal and child welfare across Anioma communities.
