It is a cultural expression of the community’s intricate history of ancestral descent, kinship, marriage, and migration. In Ibusa, a greeting is often more than a mere exchange of courtesy; it can serve as an affirmation of lineage, a recognition of ancestral bonds, and a reminder of the relationships that bind one family, kindred, or Ogbe (Quarter) to another. Ancestral Patterns: The Umu Ogbes Among the Ogbes whose names carry the Umu prefix, there are those whose members are united by a common ancestral origin and consequently share a homogeneous traditional salutation.
