The festival is one in which gratitude is offered the gods or deities for a fruitful year. The reason for celebrating the festival is understandable since yam provides the people reliable food. Iwaji Festival is mostly celebrated in September to mark the end of fruitful harvest by the people. Patrick Nweike Ochei, publisher of Anioma Trust Newspaper reported the Obi of the community as emerging from his inner chambers of the Issele-Uku Royal Palace on Friday, to perform his first official outing for the 2022 annual festival known as Ine Aho. The King dressed in red royal apparel was seen publicly, buying some commodities and paying for them inside the community's Afor Market where he also paid homage to the Queen Mother, Omu at her shop.
