Oshimili North Council Debunks Rumour of Bandit Infiltration in Ibusa, Invites Alleged Spreader for Questioning

By Emeka Esogbue

The Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State has dismissed as false reports alleging that bandits had infiltrated Ibusa, describing the claims as unfounded and capable of causing unnecessary panic among residents. The council also disclosed that the individual alleged to have originated and circulated the rumour has been invited for questioning as part of efforts to ascertain the source of the misinformation and safeguard public order.

In a brief statement signed by the Secretary to the Council, Hon. Austin Eloka Ajufo, and circulated on several Ibusa-based platforms, including the Ibusa Development Forum, the council thanked parents and guardians for their genuine concern in rushing to schools to ensure the safety of their children. It, however, urged residents to disregard the rumour and go about their normal activities, insisting that there was no truth to the claims.

The community, located on the outskirts of Asaba, the Delta State capital, was thrown into panic early in the day after unverified reports began circulating that bandits had been sighted in Ibusa. The rumour prompted anxious parents and guardians to rush to schools across the community to pick up their children over fears for their safety.

The council appealed to residents to verify sensitive information through official government channels and relevant security agencies before sharing or acting on it. It reaffirmed its commitment to the security, safety and welfare of all residents and urged members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding.

However, it is within my historical concern that the rich history of this part of Igboland be adequately researched into, documented and preserved for the future generation. I do not hail from this part of Igboland but my historical background, interest and curiosity propelled me towards the acquisition of both oral and written information to put this material together. Geography The various Obollo communities comprising of Obollo Afor, Obollo Etiti, Obollo Eke, Obollo Orie and Obollo Nkwo are strategically situated at the regional bou...

DIAMOND JUBILEE AGE: 20 THINGS THE WORLD DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT FRED AJUDUA On January 21 2020, Pen Master paid Chief Fred Ajudua a scheduled visit at his Lagos-VGC Marble Dome Home, a large and imposing house sitting on a hill from where it vigorously engages public views and attention. On entering the house, Pen Master freely walked in and around, in the spirit of the love that always binds the people of Igbuzo. Beyond what you know about him, there seems many sides you do not know.
