Maisha Odiakosa Formalizes Idumuje-Unor Community Cultural Identity

On May 10, 2026, the rich cultural heritage of the people of Idumuje-Unor, an Anioma community, was proudly on display as tradition, identity, and family heritage converged in a colourful cultural ceremony.
Maisha Odiakosa, daughter of the renowned Anioma philanthropist, Chief Michael Onyekali Brian Odiakosa, was formally admitted into the Ada Ogbe-Owelle group. The ceremony, led by the Ada Ogbe of Ogbe-Owelle Quarters in Idumu Obu Village, marked her traditional and formal acceptance as nwa ada of both the village and the wider Idumuje-Unor community.
The USA-based Maisha Odiakosa was ceremonially received into the fold of her ancestral heritage, signifying her full recognition as one of the nwada ada of Idumu Obu Village. The event was marked by warmth, symbolism, and a strong reaffirmation of cultural belonging.
Her father, Chief Michael Onyekali Brian Odiakosa also a respected community leader, the Nwadialor of Idumuje-Unor and Osigie of Issele-Uku expressed profound joy at the occasion. He noted that the ceremony was not only a cultural milestone but also a meaningful opportunity to reconnect his children with their roots and ensure the continuity of their heritage.
As part of the tradition, Maisha Odiakosa was adorned with coral beads and presented with Akwa-Ocha, the distinguished handwoven fabric of the Anioma people, symbolizing purity, identity, and pride.
