NWAOBOSHI, PAT UTOMI, DELE EZEOBA,
OTHERS ATTEND ICDU CONFERENCE IN IBUSA

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Distinguished
Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State was among scores
of dignitaries that attended this year’s Ibusa Community Development Union (ICDU)
Conference which held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 inside Nkata venue in Ibusa. The
event also had in attendance the nation’s former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral
Joseph Dele Ezeoba and founder of Lagos Business School and Delta State Gubernatorial
Aspirant, Prof Pat Utomi.
The conference which kicked off at
11.00am was presided over by Dr. Austin Izagbo, the Town Union’s President-General
and also well-attended by distinguished figures from the community. As
traditionally required, kola nut was broken by Onowu Pius Nwanze, the Diokpa of
Ibusa, a development watchers of the community say is an accomplishment for the
organizers being the first time in about two decades that a Senior Diokpa of the
community would discharge this cultural role at the yearly conference.
Some of the resolutions reached at
the conference include the need for the finance sub-committee to generate the
sum of N500,000 to help cater for financial needs of the Town Union, commencement
of insurance policy for members’ welfare, re-commencement of Izu Anioma and supervision
and follow-up on the government by Ibusa Community Development Union to make
possible availability of a parcel of land as duly requested by Dame Winnie
Akpani for the establishment of a same sex model college in the community among
others.
Senator Peter Nwaoboshi also used
the opportunity to brief the gathering of his intention to rehabilitate the
Nkpanyala Road up to the location of the Federal Government Girls’ College. He
also promised to complete the installation of street lighting facilities along
the Umejei Road while assuring all that work would commence soon on the projects.
The Town Union also used the opportunity offered by the platform to unveil “Agogo
Ibusa”, its quarterly publication.
The event
witnessed the commissioning of ICT Centre in the community by Senator Peter
Nwaoboshi, fully equipped with automatic printing machines, a modern solar
energy, twenty computer sets and a stand-by generator. The ICT Centre built and
donated to the community by Hon Innocent Esewezie, the immediate past Transition
Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area also had a-one year
subscription running.

Dr. Austin Izagbo, the President-General of the Town Union who chaired the
event; the Senior Diokpa of Ibusa, Onowu Pius Nwanze; Senator Peter Nwaoboshi,
Distinguished Senator Representing Delta North Senatorial District; Admiral
Joseph Dele Ezeoba (Retd), the nation’s former Chief of Naval Staff; Mr.
Vincent Okonwaji, SSA to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Project Monitoring; Sir
Austin Onianwa, SSA to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Special Duties.
Others include Prof Pat Utomi, Proprietor
of Lagos Business School; Chief Frank Odita, former Police Spokesperson; His
Eminence, Chief Celestine Okafor, the Ikwele of Ibusa; Chief Amaechi Nwaenie,
the Uwolo of Ibusa; Onowu Iwugo Okonicha, the Iyase of Ibusa; Mr. Tony Uwajeh,
President of ICDU, UK Branch; Dr. Nosike Agokei, the Ochikoba of Ibusa, Onowu
Engr. Jonathan Okeze, the Oboli of Umuezeagwu; Prof Austin Uwandulu, Rev Father
Nobert Uchunor, Prof Fidelis Oditah and Mr. Mike Ajukwu. Also in attendance
were delegates of Igbuzo Singles Meet, the group that promotes Ibusa
inter-marriage among other attendees.
