A PERSPECTIVE ON WOMEN GENDER EQUALITY IN NIGERIA BY ELIZABETH I. OLINMAH Abstract:- The major aim of this paper is to ascertain the level, differential, and prediction of gender equality in Nigeria. Knowledge accumulation and application, especially for women, have become major factors in economic development and are increasingly at the core of a country’s competitive advantage in the global economy. Secondary data from Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS), Nigeria Demographic and Education Survey (NDES), Sentinel survey and National Population Commission (NPC) data were used. The result showed that over 71 percent of women had no education while 43 percent of men had no education . Furthermore, there is disparity between women and men education according to household economic status as in the poorest households, 40 percent of men are literate compared to 13 percent of women .
