 Newly Promoted Major Gen Ochei Pays Omu Anioma a Surprise Visit, Receives Royal Blessings from the Queen Mother

The love and unity now culturally sweeping through the region of Anioma in Delta State, continued unabated as newly promoted Major General Raymond Nkemakonam Ochei paid HRM Obi Dr. Matha Dunkwu, the Omu of Anioma, a surprise visit in her Okpanam Palace on Tuesday.  


The Onicha-Olona illustrious son from Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State who was recently decorated in Abuja, was in the palace of the Omu in a surprise visit to brief the Omu of his promotion by the Nigerian Army and to also thank her for her prayers for progressive Anioma sons and daughters. 


One of the domestic staff of the Queen Mother who spoke to PEN MASTER after the General's visit said, "imagine the surprise of the Omu of Anioma on learning of the visit of the General who was on a friendly visit with his aides to pay homage to the Omu as we, the Anioma people respectably do." 


Major General Raymond Ochei, on briefing the Omu of his recent promotion, received royal blessings from the Omu Palace. He then handed Omu some gifts that he came with. 


HRM Obi Dr. Martha Dunkwu, the Omu of Anioma is a respected traditional force of the Anioma people who in recent times, has through a series of cultural campaigns, continued to project the Omu practice and other sets of traditional values, passed down from proceeding generations. It is as a result of this that her people consider her the living Omu institutional memory.  


This visit of Major General Raymond Ochei to the Omu of Anioma is seen as a sign of oneness that binds the Anioma people, cemented by Omuship, the sacred female traditional institution. 


Major General Raymond Nkemakonam Ochei is a decorated veteran and combatant who has served in different units and formations. He has also served in command and leadership positions in the course of his military profession.  General Ochei graduated from the Nigerian Defence Academy where he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant into the Nigerian Army as a member of the 40th Regular Combatant Course, following which he served on different fronts within and outside the country as far as Europe. 


His educational qualification includes B.sc. (Hons) in Economics from the Nigerian Defence Academy, M. Sc in Economics from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, a Master's in Business Administration from Lead City University, and Ph.D. in Forensic Accounting, and Audit from Charisma University. 


The Omu wished Gen Ochei well in his career while urging him to continue to do the Anioma people proud.
