By Emeka Esogbue
The President-General of Ibusa Community Development
Union (ICDU), Dr. Austin Izagbo has joined his fellow Ibusa indigenes in
mourning Mr. Michael Nnabundo Nkadi whose news of demise was recently reported.
The former Delta State Commissioner for Sports and Chairman of Caniz Ltd yesterday
in Lagos described his death as a regrettable loss to the Ibusa community as a
whole while lamenting that that his love for the community would be greatly
missed.
Dr. Izagbo who made this disclosure while reacting to the
news of the passing on of the foremost social critic and traditionalist described
him as one whose candor and forthrightness in seeking the best for Ibusa, Ibusa
will miss. He said that Nkadi has left an indelible footprint capable of
emulation by the present Ibusa generation in upholding and promoting the cultural
tenets of the community.
“He was indeed a truthful person who was known for
speaking up at the right time and for the right reasons who will be missed by
all”, Izagbo said.
Meanwhile, the demise of the social critic has continued
to generate torrential reactions from prominent indigenes of the community
since the news broke yesterday. While Chief Nosike Agokei, the Ochikoba of
Ibusa noted the difficulty in befriending death, a Senior Legislative Aide to
Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial
district at the Nigerian Senate, Mr. Onyeluka Igbonoba philosophized that man
cannot befriend death or get used to it particularly when it involves a good
person.
Mr. Igbonoba said further of the late Mike Nkadi:
“No one is wholly good but Chief Nkadi made conscious
efforts at goodness”.
Chief Agokei, the Legal Luminary who conveyed that Nkadi
was a lover of culture on one hand and Ibusa on the other hand counseled all on
the realization of inevitability of death while recommending the need to
research into it to avoid getting afraid of it.
A foremost literary specialist, Henry Obi Ajumeze, also
from the community was full of praise for him while recalling his earliest
encounter with him. The respected literati lamented his early demise just as he
described his loss as occasioning emptiness in him.
The late Nkadi was also noted by the Initiator of People
of Oshimili North and Dike Diohanma of Ute Ogbeje, Chief Kizito Ijeh as a
natural born soldier, a one-man riot squad and a buffalo soldier who would be
greatly missed by all. The group members, earlier today took half of the day to
register their condolences for the man said to be a friend of all.
Michael Nnabundo Nkadi, an indigene of Umueze in Ibusa,
Delta State and one of the foundational members of People of Oshimili North died
yesterday, November 22, 2018 in his United Kingdom base after he suffered
illness.
