In a rare promotion of the culture of the Anioma people, a group in Delta State, Nigeria, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on Saturday arrived at Ibusa to showcase Precypat's Akwa-Ocha designs to the world. Precypat Designs, now Anioma's most circulated Akwa-Ocha fashion outfit is run by Mrs. Precious Adigwe from Ibusa in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State that sells all kinds of designs of the fabric it produces.
In a video publicized and circulated on social media yesterday, the various designs were on display.
Her husband, Mr. Patrick Adigwe, a philanthropist who is also community-oriented with testimonial contributions, while circulating the BBC video to the public said:
"On the day they arrived, it was a Saturday. They came with many of their crew and various cameras which I have never seen. They were stunned to see many young ones around us. They even became more stunned to see various colours and the ease at which every of the younger ones carries out their duties."
"I am so proud of my wife. Yes, so proud of her and her achievements," he said while appreciating a prominent indigene of the community, Chief Roland Nwanze for the business empowerment.
"Today, I know the Onihe (Chief Roland Nwanze), reading and seeing this video will be fulfilled.
Pen Master in a phone interaction with Mrs. Adigwe, having received the good news, noted the excitement in her. She remarked the best of the Precypat Designs is yet to come and that the team is working round the clock to satisfy the Anioma users of the Akwa-Ocha and promote and situate the people's prized value.
The Akwa-Ocha fabric is cultural to the Anioma people but it is now a mode of fashion, worn on all occasions. More particularly, it is the cultural outfit, worn by brides and grooms during the traditional marriage. In recent times, the Omus, occupants of female traditional institutions from the region are considered the best promoters of the fabric since it is the only costume worn by them in public.
