Following the plight, endless and fruitless efforts of the
people of Ibusa in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State in convincing
the Delta State Government, over the years to fix the Asaba-Achala-Ibusa Road.
Mr. Stephen Chukwumuanya Nwabudike a political enthusiast and indigene of the
town has pledged to donate the sum of N250,000 (Two Hundred and Fifty thousand
Naira), for the re-election bid of His Excellency, Governor Arthur Ifeanyi
Okowa if he takes it upon himself to repair the road
Mr. Nwabudike who made this promise known to fellow conversationalists
in a group chat in popular ‘People of Oshimili North’, a Whatsaap forum,
enthused that his pledge became necessary following endless pleas, failed
promises and rumours that have accompanied the said road, yet the condition of
the road has not changed a bit. The highly respected political analyst and
commentator further stated that like many others, the repair of the road would
make him a fulfilled person as his hometown is in danger of separation by the
road that links them together.
Recall that this reporter had sometime, in the past, reported
the near impassable state of the road with shots of photographs to represent its
condition to the public, which people now avoid.
The Asaba-Achala-Ibusa Road that begins in Asaba, covering
Achala and terminates in Ezukwu quarter of Ibusa is a very strategic Road that connects
Ibusa with Asaba, the state capital. It is so strategic that that its
reconstruction will open up another end of Ibusa with Asaba, with boisterous
activities as a new beehive of social and economic activities will spring up.
The road houses important heritages in the town that include the home of the
Ikwele of the town and Oduche River, which the people depend on for their
activities among others.
‘With the road in a terrible terrible condition, the people
of Achala, have become completely cut off from the rest of my people and the
only way to reconnect them is to fix this road. Let His excellency, Governor Arthur
Okowa come to our rescue’. Nwabudike concluded.
The road should be constructed with the cement pavement technology,so as to ensure durability. It should be awarded to an indigenous firm, perhaps,of anioma root, given the preponderance of the anioma's in the proffesional sectors,as a result of their early contacts with the european explorers, missionaries and colonists.Besides, the oduche river,a tributary of the niger river, should be canalised, and an industrial jetty(A jetty with an industrial city),built within it's vicinity,so that ibusa would be transformed into an economic hub in the west and central african subregion, like onitsha, anambra state.Given, that ibusa is blessed with notable personalities in the realms of commerce and industry, like nnewi, anambra state, there should be concerted efforts to replicate the nnewi miracle in ibusa, with the likes of dr pat utomi, senator peter nwaoboshi, peter okocha etc, spearheading it
