Empowerment Triumph: Naomi's World Uplifts Ibusa Youths, Certificates Presented with Jubilation  Story By Emeka Esogbue For the people of Ibusa in Delta State, it has been a season of empowerment in the community as participants graduated from Naomi's World youth empowerment program on Thursday. The 17-day empowerment initiative, which took place at the Umuodogwu Hall in the community, was a celebration of milestones as successful beneficiaries were awarded certificates upon graduation. The graduates used the occasion to showcase their accomplishments by giving guests the opportunity to sample their delicious food and take home handcrafted items. Naomi's World equipped the young people with skills in baking, hair weaving, soap production, perfume, freshener, bleach manufacturing, and other areas, instilling a sense of self-reliance and survival instincts. Notable attendees included Miss Isioma Nelly Okonji, the current Ambassador of the People of Oshimili North (POoN), an

10 Things to Know about the Ichi Eze Culture in Asaba, Ibusa, Okpanam, Illah and Okwe

10 Things to Know about the Ichi Eze Culture in Asaba, Ibusa, Okpanam, Illah and Okwe  - Emeka Esogbue It is no longer news that the Ajudua family made Ibusa proud again with the Obiship of Obi Dr. Henry Ajudua who is now the newest Obi in the community. Obi Dr Ajudua's Obiship brought the beauty of the people's culture close to global attention, allowing them to enjoy it.  Here are 10 things to know about Obiship: 1. Inside Udoh, the hallowed site, the anklet is tied. Symbolically, the anklet and red cap are the features Obiship seen by the eyes. 2. On becoming an Obi, there is no traditional title in Ibusa, Asaba, Okpanam, Illah and Okwe that supersedes the Obi title just as there is no traditional title that supercedes the Omu title for the females. After Obiship and Omuship, any other title acquired (anywhere) before and/or after is superflouos.  3. Traditionally, after the Obiship, only one name is chosen and added to "Obi" as a prefix and this may be the first

Two more roads, totaling roughly 2.5 km and built by the well-known philanthropist along the Umueze axis of the village, were also made available for traffic.  The two other community-commissioned projects of the day include the recently constructed fence of St. Thomas College, Ibusa, which he funded, the renovated Principal's Office with e

Gideon Nwaomu, OFAAC Promoter of Anioma Culture, Rest in Peace

Gideon Nwaomu, OFAAC Promoter of Anioma Culture, Rest in Peace Recently, the Anioma media is again, awash with the recent news of the demise of Mr. Gideon Nwaomu, the CEO of Giddy's Place, Asaba, Delta State.  Three of my OFAAC mentors have passed away in a short amount of time, including Omu Martha Dunkwu, the regular OFAAC face whose Anioma appearance and dress were selling the Anioma people to the media.  People would always point to her to ask, who that woman was. The second victim was Hon Emeka Nmadu and third third was Mr. Gideon Nwaomu, the latter two who were Directors of the Organization. OFAAC, founded by Anioma cultural giant, Arc Kester Ifeadi, is the Organization For the Advancement of Anioma Culture, the culture umbrella of the Anioma people and the biggest organizers of cultural fiesta in the whole of Delta State. It is also the gatherer of the largest Anioma culture enthusiasts from around the world and the largest gatherer of traditional rulers from the region. Th

Obiship: Like Asaba, like Ibusa; Like Obi Ajudua, Like Obi Azinge

Obiship: Like Asaba, like Ibusa; Like Obi Ajudua, Like Obi Azinge - Emeka Esogbue Two beautiful Enuani communities in Anioma; two sisterly communities and two neighbouring communities.  Like Ahaba (Asaba), like Igbuzo (Ibusa). Like Chief Prof Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge (now Obi Chief Prof Epiphani Azinge), like Chief Dr. Henry Chukwuma Ajudua (now Obi Dr Henry Ajudua).  Asaba, Ibusa, and Okpanam have a long history of relationships rooted in trade, marriage, and war. In addition to their shared physical location, these groups also have dialectical linguistics, shared cultures, and traditions.   It is pertinent to understand that only five communities—Asaba, Ibusa, Okpanam, Illah, and Okwe—all of whom are of Oshimili, follow the Obiship practice. As a stage of advancement in the people's way of life, Obiship is magnificently preserved by these communities, who work so hard to protect the long-standing tradition that their predecessors have passed down to them. Today marked the culmin
