Visiting the Ibusa Development: Enter Victor Uchunor, a Thinker of the People's Growth
"Secondly, the time has come for us as a community to think of development. The idea of "Ego di n'oshia" should be a thing of the past. This is because after two years, four years, we are not able to lay a foundation for the development of the community, then questions should arise as to what role we played. What can they say after our exit on the idea of utilizing the resources of the community? There is nothing that stops Umuodafe for example from having a big hall as in Umuodafe community hall. We can also harness our resources to develop a shopping mall. There is nothing wrong with having a recreation centre as part of our legacies where Umuodafe sons and daughters will use it at a minimal cost. More so, if every village in Ibusa should embrace such an idea, Ibusa will not remain like this. But a situation where people lavish money and resources on frivolities does not tell well of ideas in the modern world. We pray that we shall have the support of the people to allow us to do the goodwill we have in mind."
- Comrade Victor Azubuike Uchunor, Chairman, Umuodafe Worldwide Cabinet, speaking to Ibusa Voice in an interview, Ibusa Voice, Vol 1, No. 5, May 2021
While the Ibusa community is in neglect of both state and federal government's developmental map, other communities around are moving fast ahead and now, Ibusa appears to have the Oshimili North Council to rely on. Sad but true!
The people travel as far as other communities when they are sick to receive good medical treatment. Unfortunately, even ordinary medical laboratory tests have to be taken to other communities to be conducted.
It was more saddening that brides and grooms with their families in the community before now, had to travel several miles, passing through other communities, down to Akwukwu-Igbo Registry to have them joined as a husband and wife. But now, the Ibusa Liaison Office has come to alleviate the people's pains in this area courtesy of the current council chairman.
Ibusa people must not only rally around Esewezie but stand up to think the way forward for the development of the community as other communities move faster to Eldorado, leaving Ibusa behind.
