HOW ANIOMA'S ANGELA LOKS STOOD IN GAP FOR GLOBAL CHRISTIAN WORSHIPPERS DURING THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN

-       Emeka Esogbue

Notable songstress, instrumentalist and expert in musical chorale, Angela Izegbu popularly called "Angela Loks" by her admirers took the lockdown vacuum to spiritually attach global Christian worshippers to God with the event she tagged "Organ Worship".  The Organ Worship of the globally-acclaimed singer provided Christians round the world the opportunity to glue themselves to what they had been missing due to the lockdown rules that shut them out from churches.

"I performed on the 8th of June 2020, a Sunday which in Catholic Holy Calendar is dedicated to the Holy Trinity being God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit", she explained to Pen Master shortly after the musical worship ended.

"This worship message was imparted though the organ to Christians of all denominations" said the Anioma Lady of songs now widely famous for her talent.

The well-known orchestrator who further stated that the organ is a liturgical accompaniment for religious worship was happy that by her inspiration, many worshippers found an opportunity to draw closer to God despite the COVID-19 challenges and its unfavourable impacts to mankind.

The notable singer from Ibusa in Delta State was assisted by Organist, Macartan Odeke who was also the Host of the ceremony. Angela Loks who currently enjoys the position of the Manager, Membership and Event, MUSON Centre is a force to reckon with in this endeavor.

The event focused on specially selected meditative and melodious hymns and high-pitched descents which were laced with one classical song from one of Handel’s oratorios also with cadenzas to show that even with the lock

down, voices for worshipping God remains intact and important. Once there is a will, there must be a way to worship God.

The Angela Loks show was an online event on Facebook and Instagram livestream because of the social distance rule. However, the attendance produced over 1 million viewers who watched it enjoyably from their homes.

The event which particularly took place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria was a big huge success as confirmed to Pen Master by some of the viewers.

However, it is within my historical concern that the rich history of this part of Igboland be adequately researched into, documented and preserved for the future generation. I do not hail from this part of Igboland but my historical background, interest and curiosity propelled me towards the acquisition of both oral and written information to put this material together. Geography The various Obollo communities comprising of Obollo Afor, Obollo Etiti, Obollo Eke, Obollo Orie and Obollo Nkwo are strategically situated at the regional bou...

Umuezechime in Anioma: History and Identity Factor Resolved By Emeka Esogbue

Umuezechime in Anioma: History and Identity Factor Resolved By Emeka Esogbue Introduction Although the Anioma peopling the West Bank of the Niger River Basin have often been categorized as a people that wholesomely trace their origin to only one particular ethnic group of Nigeria by writers of history and other researchers from outside the Anioma region, numerous historical evidences drawn from the oral and written sources, and migration theories of the people confirm their heterogeneous origins. Evidently, all the peoples that now comprise the “Anioma” area originated from different ethnic groups of the Nigerian nation.   The above is confirmed by Osia (2012:6) who wrote: “History notes that the Anioma people trace their origins to various communities within Nigeria: Edo, Igala, Yoruba and Igbo. No history has proved these ancestries otherwise…” Esogbue (2015:14) further admitted that: “there is always tendency for researchers to an extent to assign the whole of...
