ALLOW ME TO PRESIDE OVER A UNITED UMUODAFE VILLAGE

ALLOW ME TO PRESIDE OVER A UNITED UMUODAFE VILLAGE

- Onowu Joseph Adinlofu Begs Umuodafe People of Ibusa

- Constitutes Peace Panel to United the Families

By Emeka Esogbue

In a manner precedented by peace-loving traditional leaders and people vested with custodianship of the people's heritage, the Diokpa of Umuodafe, one of the quarters that make up the Ibusa community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, has appealed to the indigenes of Umuodafe to give peace a chance. The 95-year old Diokpa, in a 16-clause communique, published on Thursday in the Vanguard Newspaper of August 18, 2022, revealed that the bone of contention was issues regarding ownership and administration of land in his Umuodafe domain. He, therefore, constituted a peace panel to look into the particular areas of trouble as it affects the people and make reconciliation subsequently.

Also asked with a fact-finding mission, the publication noted legal luminary and Ochikoba of Ibusa, Dr. Nosike Agokei as the Chairman of the Panel and also named Barr. Fidel Okeze as the Vice-Chairman. Other members of the Committee are Mr. Ike Nwabuoku, Chief Victor Uchunor, the current President-General of Ibusa Community Development Union (ICDU), Mr. Napoleon Adinlofu, Ike Azeh, Augustine Nkemchor, and Polycap Chizea.

Described as 'Peace Ambassadors,' Chief Charles Okonkwo, the Odogwu of Ibusa, and HRH Obi Josephine Nwannabuogwu, the Omu of Ibusa, two respected traditional leaders in the community were appointed as part of the peace process. It was also agreed that every village, Odafe Okwu and Odafe Isi Uzor will nominate four persons each to the Committee. Every village will also nominate one Nwada as a member of the Panel and their Youth Presidents as members of the all-important body. Dr. Austin Izagbo, the Ide of Ibusa and erstwhile President-General of the Ibusa Community Development Union (ICDU) was nominated for the peace process due to his maternal status as Nwada in Odaukwu, Umuodafe.

"The write-up (publication in Vanguard Newspaper) was authorized by our children from the Odafe Isi Uzor component of Umuodafe Family Union," the Diokpa of Umuodafe averred in the publication.

"All issues raised and canvassed are not new to Umuodafe Family Union in recent times."

"By God's permission today, I am the Diokpa of Umuodafe and all lands belonging to Umuodafe are vested in me," the Diokpa declared in what came to the rest of Ibusa people as a stance to further curtail the troubles of the village.

Onowu Joseph Adinlofu, in the communique, remind his subjects of land tenure system as the traditional practice of the people of Ibusa. The Peace Committee will commence its sitting on August 23 with the report to be submitted on August 27, 2022, while all the parties are urged to take advantage of the peace initiative to make peace.

Relationship among the families of Umuodafe has over time, marred by bitterness and acrimony since the creation of Delta State in 1991 which administratively placed the Ibusa community in the Delta State Capital Development Territory. Since then, indiscriminate sales of lands in illegality have characterized life in that quarter of Ibusa with a few lives claimed. Onowu Joseph Adinlofu's action is seen as holding the bull by the horn to see to the end of crises.

DIAMOND JUBILEE AGE: 20 THINGS THE WORLD DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT FRED AJUDUA

DIAMOND JUBILEE AGE: 20 THINGS THE WORLD DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT FRED AJUDUA On January 21 2020, Pen Master paid Chief Fred Ajudua a scheduled visit at his Lagos-VGC Marble Dome Home, a large and imposing house sitting on a hill from where it vigorously engages public views and attention. On entering the house, Pen Master freely walked in and around, in the spirit of the love that always binds the people of Igbuzo. The man, Chief Fred Ajudua often described as the “Architect of Modern Ibusa” is unarguably one of the biggest fish in history to have come out of Ibusa even as it is said that nearly every Ibusa family has benefited from him one way or the other. Beyond what you know about him, there seems many sides you do not know. As the Igbuzo Chief celebrates his 60 th Year birthday, your Pen Master brings you the things you do not know about the highly influential Igbuzo Chief. Pen Master also dug into the Ajudua family photo depository all for your knowledge. Happy reading!

A SHORT HISTORY OF OBOLLO CLAN IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA

A SHORT HISTORY OF OBOLLO CLAN IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA By Emeka Esogbue Introduction Not many historical literatures on the Obollo people exist for the usual reasons associated with our people who prefer to write the history of mighty and populous peoples already enriched with volumes of historical accounts and records. Thus while there are historical documents on other peoples of Igbo, for Obollo, it is the story of dearth of documents. However, it is within my historical concern that the rich history of this part of Igboland be adequately researched into, documented and preserved for the future generation. I do not hail from this part of Igboland but my historical background, interest and curiosity propelled me towards the acquisition of both oral and written information to put this material together. Geography The various Obollo communities comprising of Obollo Afor, Obollo Etiti, Obollo Eke, Obollo Orie and Obollo Nkwo are strategically situated at the regional bou

SEE HOW ANIOMA PEOPLE DRESS ON THEIR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE THE ERA OF USING OUR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE TO PROMOTE ATTIRES OF OTHER GROUPS IN NIGERIA IS GONE

SEE HOW ANIOMA PEOPLE DRESS ON THEIR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE THE ERA OF USING OUR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE TO PROMOTE ATTIRES OF OTHER GROUPS IN NIGERIA IS GONE Today is Saturday, conventionally set aside for marriage ceremonies. Awareness on how our Anioma brides and grooms attire themselves during their traditional marriage has fast spread and entrenched. We no longer promote other group's cultural attires because we want them to promote our own instead. I say many thanks to our Anioma cultural advocates on this day because our labours to preserve as well as promote the good cultures of our Anioma society have never been in vain. Noticeable now is that in   time of our traditional marriages, we costume ourselves in Akwa-Ocha which brings out our god-given beauty. A few moments after her traditional marriage in Umuodafe, Ibusa on December 28, inside the Agokei palatial home, I visited former Miss Amaka Thelma Agokei, the bride. I was rather late; but I met this beautiful bride t
