Ibusa Confers Uwolo Chieftaincy on Amaechi Nwaenie Emeka Esogbue All roads led to Ibusa for the investiture ceremony for the conferment of Uwolo on Chief Amaechi Nwaenie. This all important event for the community took place on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the palace of HRM (Obi) Prof Louis Nwaoboshi, the Obuzor of Ibusa in Umueze quarters of the community. Anioma Essence can authoritatively report that guests started arriving at the Umueze palace venue of the ceremony as early as 8 am to witness the event. The Uwolo is a warlord and the leader of “Otu” Uwolo, one of the three “otus” that exists in the community with the other two being the Odogwu and Iyase. These three traditional positions are highly respected in the community. In ancient Ibusa, they were Army Generals that led the community to wars and also defended her against eternal aggressions. “Odogwu” is etymologically of Igbo while “Uwolo” and “Iyase” are of Benin etymology. Anioma Communities meet under the concept of Njiko Aniocha-Oshimili The Anioma people of Aniocha and Oshimili in Delta State met recently in Asaba to draw up blueprint for the economic development of the area. This was done under the auspices of Njiko Aniocha-Oshimili initiated by Prof Epiphany Azinge. It was the maiden edition of an economic summit mandated to draw up roadmap to assist the economic recovery of Aniocha and Oshimili areas of Anioma. The event which attracted great and important personalities from the area with the state governor, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Arthur Okowa in attendance, targeted issues as they affected internally generated funds from Aniocha-Oshimili for the development of the area. Our Anioma Culture Will Enable Our Youths To Succeed -        Mercy Chizoba Olisenweokwu Recently, there was a youth program in Ibusa tagged “Beauty and Balance”, and seated on a separate arrangement was Mercy Chizoba Olisenweokwu, the reigning Miss Teen Anioma. She speaks on a number of issues relating to the culture of the Anioma people of Delta State. Mercy Olisenweokwu advises on the promotion of Akwa-Ocha, the cultural fabric of the Anioma people and why Anioma youths should be encouraged to adorn it. I Am Driven By Truth And Hunger To Represent Anioma At the Senate -        Abavo-born Smart Madu Ajaja Smart Madu Ajaja is a Human and Environmental Activist with particular interest in environmental justice and international relations. He is a USA-based orthopedic nurse in industrial, correctional and oncology nursing with licensure in three different countries of the world. H e also ranks high as an Anioma inventor able to devise “ unpatented dynamic Immobilizer” for the management of Volkmann’s Ischemic Contracture but he is best known possibly for his Anioma advocacies and leadership contributions over the time. Ajaja is the latest in the train of Anioma candidates with political ambition to represent the Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State at the Nigerian Senate.
