Celebrating the Ibusa Female Gender: The Ibusa Woman, the Ibusa Power - Emeka Esogbue  On April 2 2021, I wrote an article that identified the contributions of Ibusa women to the development of the community. This version, which emphasizes the unsung contributions of the gender with a call for deeper appreciation in this regard, speaks of the Ibusa woman by nativity and marriage and why their efforts should match their male counterparts with greater celebrations. Typical of African societies, Ibusa, a close-knit society of people with a long-standing history of homogenous origin and cultural affinity in Delta State, Nigeria, captures the overall sense or commonly held African system in which female achievers are rarely celebrated or where possible, not celebrated like their male counterparts.  There is no doubt that the Ibusa society has had mothers, wives, sisters, and girls who have played important roles in the development of the community since history but they are celebrated only

Pomp and Pageantry in Ibusa as Obi Adigwe Nweke is Inaugurated the Diokpa of Umuekea  Story By Emeka Esogbue  There was a remarkable display of Anioma cultural grandeur in Ibusa, Delta State, on Saturday when Obi (Eze) Adigwe Blacky Nweke was traditionally confirmed the Diokpa of Umuekea in one of the most colourful Ikpobata Umu rites of the people.  A month-old premier heraldic of the event, which featured an interview, histories, and cultural promos, was the culmination of the day's event which happened in Isieke.  With the arrival of guests from several parts of Anioma to the Nweke Idumuochie ancestral home, the event anchored by Mr. Tony Uwaechue kicked off with an opening prayer said by Obi (Eze) Adigwe Blacky Nweke, who also broke the Kola nut in his capacity as the oldest living man in the gathering according to the rites of the Ibusa people. It peaked with the presence of important personalities from different walks of life, many of who were from different cultural backgro

Loud in Ibusa: The Igwe Obosi will Attend the Obi Nweke's Diokpaship Event After he Read Pen Master's Ibusa-Obosi Ancestral Link - Emeka Esogbue On Saturday (tomorrow), all roads will lead to Ibusa, with Isieke clan as the event ground. Isieke, the ancestral root of some of the most prominent Igbuzo sons and daughters, many of who enjoy global recognition, will host important dignitaries from several other parts of the nation. It is the venue of Obi (Eze) Adigwe Blacky Nweke's Ikpobata Umu (inaugural reception as the Diokpa of Umuekea), and the Nweke family is prepared to showcase one of the finest cultural 'fiestas.' It is here that his Ofor (traditional staff of office) will be confirmed. It will also empower his leadership of the Ekea descendants by progeniture, something everyone is already looking up to. Typical of the rich culture of the Umejei's Igbuzo-Isu migrants, the traditional drums will be rolled out, and the guest will be enthralled with the best

UWOLO CRISIS TEARS IBUSA COMMUNITY APART

UWOLO CRISIS TEARS IBUSA COMMUNITY APART Story By Emeka Esogbue There are indications that all is not well in Ibusa community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State following an alleged removal of the Uwolo of the community, Chief Amaechi Nwaenie and consequent replacement.  PEN MASTER can report that indigenes fear that the community, struggling to return from the Obuzo-Diokpa crisis since 1995, is finding its way back on another path of major social crisis. Trouble started when on June 21, 2023, a video clip was circulated on social media, showing a ceremony in which Chief Amaechi Nwaenie, the Uwolo of Ibusa was allegedly removed from traditional office and replaced with Ogbuu Agiliga Umunna who was later seen in another video chalked by the 104-year old Diokpa of the community, Onowu Paul Ijeh.  Since then, the people of the community from the various quarters have been trading blames. Typically, both sides of the divide have stuck to their guns, justifying the reaso
