A PERSONALITY PROFILE OF ONOWU FRANK OBODOECHINA, AN IBUSA FIGURE IN THE DIASPORA

A PERSONALITY PROFILE OF ONOWU FRANK OBODOECHINA, AN IBUSA FIGURE IN THE DIASPORA

As the year, 2022 gradually comes to an end, one cannot but think prominently of Onowu Frank Obobodoechina, an Ibusa figure based in Canada.

Onowu Frank Obodoechina tended to be a great mobilizer in the name of the Ibusa community, speaking to nearly every son and daughter that he found in Canada and converging them in the name of the community. Perhaps, nowhere did the typical traditional songs of the community especially Ogbogu Okonji blare out from the loudspeakers than in the major cities of Canada.

Gifted in the communal ability to gather people, Onowu Frank Obodoechina makes the Ibusa people in the Diaspora to be very proud of where they are coming from. The Ibusa community is just lucky to have him.

A few weeks ago, PEN MASTER listed him among the 11 people that touched Ibusa in 2022, and a group of Ibusa readers, youngsters, requested that Onowu Frank Obodoechina be spotlighted for better understanding and appreciation, which is the reason for this directional light to illuminate him.

The Profile

Onowu Frank Obodoechina is a full-blooded Ibusa indigene, born to Ibusa parents; father, Michael Adigwe Obodoechina from Umuechie in Umueze and mother, Marcelinas Ositadinma Obodoechina from Umuogwo in Umuekea, both quarters of Ibusa.

Quite uniquely, Frank Obodoechina was born to full-blooded Ibusa parents and also married to a full-blooded Ibusa woman, a characteristic of purebred Ibusa ancestry that also typically defines his children's provenance, by extension.

He is one of the formidable members of the Ogbo Midwest Age Grade of Ibusa.

He works with Toyota Canada.

Those who have worked closely with him have described him as a goal-getter who achieves whatever he goes for. Team spirit is also his forte.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of several organizations

What you need to know about Onowu Obodoechina is that he is a community man to the core and a noted philanthropist who always thirsts and hunger for the cultural cause and overall betterment of his Ibusa community, Anioma, and Igbo, by extension. Frank Obodoechina can spiritedly do anything provided it will add to the laughter of the people.

To begin with, Obodoechina is the former President of the Ibusa Association of Canada that he championed for 20 years before his departure to open up other avenues in the name of Ibusa, the President of Ibusa Progressive Union of Canada, Board of Directors of the Igbo Canadian Community Association (ICCA).

He is also the President of Nigerians in Mississauga Canada and a high-profile member of the Ibusa Sports Club.

In 2018, Onowu Obodoechina and other Ibusa leaders helped to converge the Ibusa sons and daughters to hold the Ibusa Day. He then started the process to invite Pen Master and late Philip Ngozi Kwusike to deliver what he called Ibusa speeches at the Canada Ibusa event but his efforts were hindered by certain factors beyond his control.

That Frank Obodoechina does not give fish but teaches those he must help to catch fish comes to philanthropic fore when it is considered that he has assisted over 30 indigenes of Ibusa to relocate to Canada to seek greener pastures for themselves and by themselves. He has assisted several unemployed Ibusa indigenes to secure jobs in Nigeria using his contacts.

He is also particularly remembered for the many donations made to Ibusa indigenes during the COVID-19 era.

Onowu Obodoechina is married to Roseline Obodoechina nee Okonkwo from Umuodafe Quarters of Ibusa and the family is blessed with beautiful children who are also Ibusa-centric.

Onowu Frank Obodoechina is today, brought to the attention of the Ibusa public as one who promotes the Ibusa culture in the Diaspora.

DIAMOND JUBILEE AGE: 20 THINGS THE WORLD DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT FRED AJUDUA

DIAMOND JUBILEE AGE: 20 THINGS THE WORLD DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT FRED AJUDUA On January 21 2020, Pen Master paid Chief Fred Ajudua a scheduled visit at his Lagos-VGC Marble Dome Home, a large and imposing house sitting on a hill from where it vigorously engages public views and attention. On entering the house, Pen Master freely walked in and around, in the spirit of the love that always binds the people of Igbuzo. The man, Chief Fred Ajudua often described as the “Architect of Modern Ibusa” is unarguably one of the biggest fish in history to have come out of Ibusa even as it is said that nearly every Ibusa family has benefited from him one way or the other. Beyond what you know about him, there seems many sides you do not know. As the Igbuzo Chief celebrates his 60 th Year birthday, your Pen Master brings you the things you do not know about the highly influential Igbuzo Chief. Pen Master also dug into the Ajudua family photo depository all for your knowledge. Happy reading!

A SHORT HISTORY OF OBOLLO CLAN IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA

A SHORT HISTORY OF OBOLLO CLAN IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA By Emeka Esogbue Introduction Not many historical literatures on the Obollo people exist for the usual reasons associated with our people who prefer to write the history of mighty and populous peoples already enriched with volumes of historical accounts and records. Thus while there are historical documents on other peoples of Igbo, for Obollo, it is the story of dearth of documents. However, it is within my historical concern that the rich history of this part of Igboland be adequately researched into, documented and preserved for the future generation. I do not hail from this part of Igboland but my historical background, interest and curiosity propelled me towards the acquisition of both oral and written information to put this material together. Geography The various Obollo communities comprising of Obollo Afor, Obollo Etiti, Obollo Eke, Obollo Orie and Obollo Nkwo are strategically situated at the regional bou

SEE HOW ANIOMA PEOPLE DRESS ON THEIR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE THE ERA OF USING OUR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE TO PROMOTE ATTIRES OF OTHER GROUPS IN NIGERIA IS GONE

SEE HOW ANIOMA PEOPLE DRESS ON THEIR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE THE ERA OF USING OUR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE TO PROMOTE ATTIRES OF OTHER GROUPS IN NIGERIA IS GONE Today is Saturday, conventionally set aside for marriage ceremonies. Awareness on how our Anioma brides and grooms attire themselves during their traditional marriage has fast spread and entrenched. We no longer promote other group's cultural attires because we want them to promote our own instead. I say many thanks to our Anioma cultural advocates on this day because our labours to preserve as well as promote the good cultures of our Anioma society have never been in vain. Noticeable now is that in   time of our traditional marriages, we costume ourselves in Akwa-Ocha which brings out our god-given beauty. A few moments after her traditional marriage in Umuodafe, Ibusa on December 28, inside the Agokei palatial home, I visited former Miss Amaka Thelma Agokei, the bride. I was rather late; but I met this beautiful bride t
