The Omus affirmed the region's traditional rulers as the fathers of the Anioma Nation and acknowledged their roles in protecting and projecting the people's traditions and cultures.

As the 2023 general elections approaches, the Anioma Council of Omus appealed to Anioma sons and daughters in politics to follow the rules and avoid heating up the polity with violence. The Council of Anioma Omus also entreated the Delta North Council Chairmen to allow the Omus to continue to collect their rights from the markets within their traditional domains as traditionally required of them.

Communique Issued By The Anioma Council of Omus

At the inaugural meeting of the newly constituted Anioma Council of Omus on Friday 22nd April, 2022, the following resolutions were reached:

1. That the Omus recognise that our Traditional Rulers are our fathers and God appointed leaders in Anioma Nation; and so commend them for the role they are playing in ensuring unity, peace, security,  growth and development in the various communities making up Anioma Nation.

2. That the role of the Omus are complimentary. As Queen Mothers of our various communities, it is our duty to protect, to promote and to project our tradition,  our culture and our values. As Mothers of our various communities, our primary role is to lead women, be custodians of the markets, and most importantly, continually pray for the town with our Nze Omu Shrine.

3. That it is the place of the Omus to advocate proper Motherhood by showing examples with their conducts, behaviours and attitudes in private and public places.

4. The Anioma Council of Omus admonishes Anioma sons and daughters who are in politics to play it in accordance with the rules of the game and not kill themselves for power and pecuniary gains.

5. That the Local Governments in Delta North should not stop or impede the Omus from performing their duties and collecting their rights from the markets as stipulated by our forefathers who created the Omu Institution 822 years ago. We state categorically that we do not want stipends from the Local Governments.

6. The Anioma Council of Omus commends the State Government headed by our own leader, distinguished and highly achieved son,  His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for its performance and numerous accomplishments thus far, advising it to hasten development on critical areas of Asaba, Okpanam and other communities before the end of their tour of duty.

7. The Anioma Council of Omus equally commends the leadership of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency headed by our own amiable daughter,  Hon. Joan Onyemaechi for the clean innovation on Asaba City,  imploring them to sustain such tempo to truly reflect the city as a foremost Capital city.

8. The Anioma Council of Omus urge every citizen of Delta State to contribute their quota towards the development of the State. Our prayers are with the state and we appeal for peace and harmony ahead of the coming elections.

DIAMOND JUBILEE AGE: 20 THINGS THE WORLD DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT FRED AJUDUA

DIAMOND JUBILEE AGE: 20 THINGS THE WORLD DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT FRED AJUDUA On January 21 2020, Pen Master paid Chief Fred Ajudua a scheduled visit at his Lagos-VGC Marble Dome Home, a large and imposing house sitting on a hill from where it vigorously engages public views and attention. On entering the house, Pen Master freely walked in and around, in the spirit of the love that always binds the people of Igbuzo. The man, Chief Fred Ajudua often described as the “Architect of Modern Ibusa” is unarguably one of the biggest fish in history to have come out of Ibusa even as it is said that nearly every Ibusa family has benefited from him one way or the other. Beyond what you know about him, there seems many sides you do not know. As the Igbuzo Chief celebrates his 60 th Year birthday, your Pen Master brings you the things you do not know about the highly influential Igbuzo Chief. Pen Master also dug into the Ajudua family photo depository all for your knowledge. Happy reading!

A SHORT HISTORY OF OBOLLO CLAN IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA

A SHORT HISTORY OF OBOLLO CLAN IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA By Emeka Esogbue Introduction Not many historical literatures on the Obollo people exist for the usual reasons associated with our people who prefer to write the history of mighty and populous peoples already enriched with volumes of historical accounts and records. Thus while there are historical documents on other peoples of Igbo, for Obollo, it is the story of dearth of documents. However, it is within my historical concern that the rich history of this part of Igboland be adequately researched into, documented and preserved for the future generation. I do not hail from this part of Igboland but my historical background, interest and curiosity propelled me towards the acquisition of both oral and written information to put this material together. Geography The various Obollo communities comprising of Obollo Afor, Obollo Etiti, Obollo Eke, Obollo Orie and Obollo Nkwo are strategically situated at the regional bou

SEE HOW ANIOMA PEOPLE DRESS ON THEIR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE THE ERA OF USING OUR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE TO PROMOTE ATTIRES OF OTHER GROUPS IN NIGERIA IS GONE Today is Saturday, conventionally set aside for marriage ceremonies. Awareness on how our Anioma brides and grooms attire themselves during their traditional marriage has fast spread and entrenched. We no longer promote other group's cultural attires because we want them to promote our own instead. A few moments after her traditional marriage in Umuodafe, Ibusa on December 28, inside the Agokei palatial home, I visited former Miss Amaka Thelma Agokei, the bride. I was rather late; but I met this beautiful bride t
