10TH ANNIVERSARY: IGBUZO SINGLES GO ON-AIR BRIDGE FM TO ADVOCATE IBUSA MARRIAGE

10TH ANNIVERSARY: IGBUZO SINGLES GO ON-AIR BRIDGE FM TO ADVOCATE IBUSA MARRIAGE

- Emeka Esogbue

Igbuzo Singles Meet Worldwide, an advocacy group in the promotion of marriage among the Ibusa people, on Monday, went on-air Bridge FM 98.7 frequency to canvass for support for the promotion of aims and objectives by which the Group is founded.

Numbering five, the radio guests, Ms. Josephine Nwannabuogwu, a former member of the organization, and Chairperson of the 10th Anniversary Planning Committee who is also the PA to Oshimili North LGA Chairman on Child right and Women Mobilization led others that are Mrs. Jennifer Buchi Dibeashi, Miss Ikem Nwamaka Faith and Mr. Collins Ndubueze to speak on the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Group.

Asked what the Group stood for, the Ibusa crew took time to explain the aims and objectives of the Association familiarly called "ISM" by admirers. They said the objectives include the revival of marriage among the Ibusa people which was hitherto on the decline as several indigenes were heading outside. Worried by the unfamiliar scenario, the initiator created the Group, and 'romantic appreciation' among the people is returning. It is, for now, the community's biggest NGO on youth development and also the best known.

Confused by "Ibusa" and "Igbuzo", two conflicting names that refer to the community, the presenter called for clarification from the youths.

"We are "Igbuzo", the name by which we natively know and address ourselves but the British colonially nicknamed us "Ibusa" which by Anglicization, officially struck on us," the guests enlightened listeners.

Concerned about whether the initiatives had been meeting its objectives, the Josephine, Faith, Jennifer, and Collins team proudly emphasized that ISM has so far, recorded 15  sets of marriages, out of which 30 members of the organization found their spouses from the Group. Still, there are 3 outstanding weddings in which another 6 members already have December of next month, to marry themselves. This will bring the totality of the Group's marriages to 18 and will also mean that in 10 years, 36 Ibusa natives found their spouses in Igbuzo Singles Meet.

The Anchor was a bit shocked when he learnt that Ikem Nwamaka Faith, one of his guests already has a December date to marry the heartthrob she found in ISM. Other radio audiences were more intrigued when a certain John Martins called in from Ibusa to inform the listeners that as a former member of the Organization, he found his wife, Debby in ISM and that they are happily married for 5 years now.

There was a bit of comic relief when Kingsley, another caller from Onitsha, nearby Anambra State, called in to inform Belushi, the presenter that he wanted to become an indigene of Ibusa.

"Go and organize your own indigenes and form your singles into a group like ISM. Form your village meet", he was funnily dismissed by the radio presenter.

Easily comported Collins Ndubueze, a non-Igbuzo indigene was also on the ground to narrate his acceptance into the group. He stated that he took advantage of the constitutional privilege of the Group which allows anyone born and brought up in the community or have lived in the community for a stipulated period, to join the fold. The Ibusa community is hospitable after all.

Several callers called to thank the Ibusa crew, saying that ISM is making Ibusa proud. Josephine Nwannabuogwu, the team leader has also said she and other members of the Ibusa crew were glad to stand for Ibusa and to garner some experience.

Founded on June 5, 2011, the Igbuzo Singles Meet Worldwide is expected to hold its 10th anniversary on November 27, 2021, in Ibusa. About 5,000 Ibusa youths have at one time or the other passed through the mentorship of the Association since its foundation. A few Ibusa people though have given their backing to the Group with their assistance.

This year's 10th-anniversary event is proudly supported by Bridge FM, Asaba, and Isunamborgu Social Club of Ibusa.

DIAMOND JUBILEE AGE: 20 THINGS THE WORLD DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT FRED AJUDUA

DIAMOND JUBILEE AGE: 20 THINGS THE WORLD DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT FRED AJUDUA On January 21 2020, Pen Master paid Chief Fred Ajudua a scheduled visit at his Lagos-VGC Marble Dome Home, a large and imposing house sitting on a hill from where it vigorously engages public views and attention. On entering the house, Pen Master freely walked in and around, in the spirit of the love that always binds the people of Igbuzo. The man, Chief Fred Ajudua often described as the “Architect of Modern Ibusa” is unarguably one of the biggest fish in history to have come out of Ibusa even as it is said that nearly every Ibusa family has benefited from him one way or the other. Beyond what you know about him, there seems many sides you do not know. As the Igbuzo Chief celebrates his 60 th Year birthday, your Pen Master brings you the things you do not know about the highly influential Igbuzo Chief. Pen Master also dug into the Ajudua family photo depository all for your knowledge. Happy reading!

A SHORT HISTORY OF OBOLLO CLAN IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA

A SHORT HISTORY OF OBOLLO CLAN IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA By Emeka Esogbue Introduction Not many historical literatures on the Obollo people exist for the usual reasons associated with our people who prefer to write the history of mighty and populous peoples already enriched with volumes of historical accounts and records. Thus while there are historical documents on other peoples of Igbo, for Obollo, it is the story of dearth of documents. However, it is within my historical concern that the rich history of this part of Igboland be adequately researched into, documented and preserved for the future generation. I do not hail from this part of Igboland but my historical background, interest and curiosity propelled me towards the acquisition of both oral and written information to put this material together. Geography The various Obollo communities comprising of Obollo Afor, Obollo Etiti, Obollo Eke, Obollo Orie and Obollo Nkwo are strategically situated at the regional bou

SEE HOW ANIOMA PEOPLE DRESS ON THEIR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE THE ERA OF USING OUR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE TO PROMOTE ATTIRES OF OTHER GROUPS IN NIGERIA IS GONE

SEE HOW ANIOMA PEOPLE DRESS ON THEIR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE THE ERA OF USING OUR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE TO PROMOTE ATTIRES OF OTHER GROUPS IN NIGERIA IS GONE Today is Saturday, conventionally set aside for marriage ceremonies. Awareness on how our Anioma brides and grooms attire themselves during their traditional marriage has fast spread and entrenched. We no longer promote other group's cultural attires because we want them to promote our own instead. I say many thanks to our Anioma cultural advocates on this day because our labours to preserve as well as promote the good cultures of our Anioma society have never been in vain. Noticeable now is that in   time of our traditional marriages, we costume ourselves in Akwa-Ocha which brings out our god-given beauty. A few moments after her traditional marriage in Umuodafe, Ibusa on December 28, inside the Agokei palatial home, I visited former Miss Amaka Thelma Agokei, the bride. I was rather late; but I met this beautiful bride t
